There is a disparity on how animals are viewed worldwide.

Many people love their dogs but in places like China, Viet Nam, and the Philippines, people eat dog meat.

Globally, people eat beef but in Indian religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism, cows are considered sacred.

People worldwide love horses but horse meat is still consumed in countries in Europe and Asia.

There is a disparity in how animals are viewed worldwide and whether an animal is considered sacred or food, they are all living beings.  The definition of speciesism is humans believing they are superior to other non-human animals resulting in the exploitation and discrimination of them.  For example, we have been programmed with certain beliefs that dogs are lovable and part of our family but cows are food on our plate.  It is just a change of perspective.  Ultimately, each animal is a living, breathing, sentient being, able to feel a range of emotions like fear and happiness just like humans.  This understanding is how we help eliminate the suffering other beings endure because of us.
